1- Believing genuinely, that smoking is breaking your health.
Before anything else, you need to believe, deep from your heart, that smoking is really killing you. If you are just a reader of smoking warnings and light another smoke, you may not really be able to get serious about your cause.
2- Calculate how much you spend on tobacco.
It is important to identify what goes wrong when you try to fix something. If you can make a calculation on how much you spend on tobacco, every month, you can just figure out the money you place into risk your health, which otherwise, can be used to buy some fruits or spend on a poor.
3- Don't just cut it off, just work on step by step
For some people, who wants to stop smoking, they just fix a date and stop smoking. But most of the time, this does not work eventually. I have personally experienced some of my colleagues who did this, and later they cam back into tobacco. Try to reduce number of cigarettes you smoke per day. Suppose, if you normally smoke about 10 cigarettes a day, try to reduce it to 9 next day and keep your number same for month. You should not reduce it to 8 unless your are fully confident that you can keep it in 9 and are ready to go 8. Basically, what this mean is, you should get used to number 9 with confident. It might take months for you to bring down numbers, but you will get slowly used to it and will reduce the metal pressure.
4- Figure out the places where you smoke more.
If you are a not smoking at home, and use to go some cafes, or public spaces, for smoking, before you go out, decide how many cigarettes you will smoke. If you are hanging out with your friends, who are smoking addicts, don't just try to smoke for an every smoke your friends do. Instead, you decide how many you will do. If they are mocking at you, just be straight and tell them why you doing it and why it is important.
5- Reached to Number 1.
Once you followed up the above step, and when you can reach to number 1, you will most probably feel like you do not necessarily need smoking. You mental pressure and emotions to smoke will be almost very low. Now you can easily give up on smoking.
