It is so great and honor serving your own-made food to your guest or family or even yourself. Most of the time, we often don't like to try new things. And this is too much common in food too. We always want food to be taste good. Delicious!! yummy!! that is why most of us don't like eating a food that we don't know very well about the taste. When it comes to food, for most of us, it all matters is the taste. Not even the malnutrition facts. Not the cholesterol level or fats and not even the energy or vitamins. So, how about trying something new at home, something simple and cheap that will taste good and even good to health!. All Muslims should be fasting at this time of the year. It is our holy month of Ramadan. The breakfast time of Ramadan is really a big feast for us. So why don't you try yourself to make some new food or even a drink that really tastes good and let your family or friend enjoy it. I am sure they will be so happy and honored to have your new recipe or drink.
At my home, we try everyday a new drink for our Ramadan Breakfast. Its all men, at here, sponsoring and preparing the drinks while women here does all cooking. We try to make a new drink everyday. These days, you don't need some cooking books or TV Show to know how to make a good recipe or drink. You only need Google for it. What we do is, just search some good websites for drinks that can be made easily with cheaper ingredients and less time. Once we get the item, we try to modify it as to suit its taste for our convenience and Maldivian taste. We use Betty Crocker and Food.com. They are our favorites.
Here you are, i am trying to share some of the nice drinks we have made for our Ramazan breakfast at home. You can try these drinks at your home and let us know if they tastes good for you and your family.
1- Virgin Mojito ( non Alcoholic own style ) - One of my favorite drinks ever!!
Things you will need: for one glass. ( about 10 mins you will need )
1- A lemon or equal quantity of lime juice ( lemon is recommended )
2- Sugar ( one teaspoon for me, but add as you like )
3- Sprite ( Small bottle is more than enough for one glass )
4- About 10-15 Mint leaves ( Kudheenaa fai )
5- A traw ( thats for drinking )
6- Ice cubes or crushed ice
How to prepare:
Get everything on the table. Add sugar into the glass. Cut the lemon into half. Squeeze one half it into glass. You will need other half later. Make sure no seeds are there. Don't squeeze too much that it may taste bitter. Now add Sprite into 1/3 of glass and also add mint leaves. You don't need separate leaves from branches. You can add with the branches. Now, stir the ingredients with a spoon. More you mix them, more taste will come. After this step, add Sprite once again up to more than a half of glass and cut the other half of lemon into 3 pieces and add into Sprite and then add ice cubes. Chill the drink as much as you can. More chilled, more taste and fresh and better. Serve the drink chilled.
Tip: Keep Sprite in refrigerator after buying it. Mint leaves should also be kept in refrigerator. Buy greenish lemons because they tastes better and fresh. Use a branch of mint leave to garnish your drink so that it looks nice. see image.
2- Not So Hard Lemonade ( will be nice if you like lime drinks )

1- 03 Orange Slices, each cut in half

3- 03 Small strawberries, each cut lengthwise in half
4- 03 green grapes
5- 05 bottles of lemon malt beverage (you can use bitterlemon ) and grenadine syrup.
How to prepare:
1- Remove any seeds from orange and lemon slices.
2- In ungreased, place orange slices, lemon slices, strawberry halves, and grapes in single layer.
3- When ready to serve, pour malt beverage into each of 6 tall glasses. Drizzle 03 table spoon grenadine syrup into each glass. Place orange slices, lemon slices, strawberry half and grape in each glass. Serve chilled. See the image:
