Whether you are a frequent traveler, a businessmen or diplomatic or you are on your honeymoon or visiting your family, there are certain things that you can take into your consideration, in order to avoid any inconveniences or suffering throughout your journey. What if you forget your favorite dress? What if you forget to pack the gifts for your family member? or what if you forget your documents? Any of these really can cause a big trouble in your journey. It is always important to make sure you have everything ready and on-board to fly.
1- Purpose of your journey.
Before anything else, you can always think about the purpose of your journey. Because, this will depend on everything else you have to get ready for your journey. If you are on your honeymoon, you have to think about what dresses you will pack. How much you will spend on events at your hotels etc.
2- Learn more about the place you go.
Whether you visiting a friend or family or on a vacation, it is important to learn more about the country you visit and the hotel you stay. Things like, the culture, prices of food, rules and regulation, safety of the country etc. If you are visiting a country where there are lots of crimes, war etc you always should have proper contacts to your embassy. On the other hand, you should be careful of your belongs, like money and other expensive items that you carry. It is not advised to carry lots of cash in your person, instead, you can use your credit cards and checks etc.
3- Packing your luggage
You can always make a list of items you will carry on your journey before you start packing your bags. It is good that you start making this list at about 2 or more days prior to your departure. This will make sure, you do not forget any items. Most of us, start packing when we are ready to go airport, at this short of time, we are in a rush and always forget some of the items. Most common item is your mobile phone charger. So, you can make this list either on your mobile phone notes or on your pc or laptop etc. Once, you start packing your luggage, you can always refer to the list and make sure no items is left behind. Another important thing is, check the free baggage allowances you get from your Flight ticket. This will make sure, you do not have any excess baggage. Of course, if you have so many items and your are ready to pay the bigger charges for excess baggage, you do not have to worry about it. Make sure no one else can intact with your luggage after the packing. This may exclude the people you trust. There are many incidents that has happened due to unidentified items that are found in your luggage at security screening. Someone maybe always your back waiting to ruin your life. Always keep in mind what you pack in your luggage. It is also very important that you remember the brand mark of your luggage along with any other identifications on your bag. It is advised that you always name label your bag. It is recommended that you attach any other identical item, like a ribbon or sticker on your bag. This is important for the worst case scenario. In case, if you lose your bag or not arrived with your flight, you need to make a claim with all these information. The more identical information your have about your bag, more easier to locate or track your bag for Airline Agents.
4- Checking the security rules at airport or your Airline.
You can always check the security rules of your Airline and Airport. Most of the airports does not allow, cosmetics or perfumes on you handbag to a certain quantity or at all. Some of the flights to certain destinations do not allow matchboxes or lighters in your person. Along with these, there are list of "Dangerous Goods" items which are strictly prohibited carrying. There certain customs rules that prevents you from carrying certain items to countries. If you are visiting to Maldives for example, you cannot carry Alcohol beverages, pork, dogs, firearms etc. Therefore, being aware of these, you can avoid mistakes and troubles during your airport checking.
5- Check flight time and be on time
Always check the flight time and make sure you are on time for your flight. Normally, Airlines start check-in for their flights 3 hours before its departure time and closes the check-in 45 minutes prior to departure time. So it is always important you to be at check-in as early as possible. The timings will always be printed on your ticket itenary. If you have to travel for a long time to reach to your airport, you can always start early.
6- Have a nice meal
It is always good if you have a nice meal before your flight. Flying is panic for some people. So, at least, with a proper meal, you can relax yourself. If you are sick of flying, you should always make sure of taking appropriate medications before your flight.
7- What to wear?
Well, this may be on your choice. But it is worth of checking the whether of a place you are visiting. If you are visiting to a very cold place, you will carry winter clothing with you. If you are visiting a place like Saudi Arabia, you may have certain dress codes that you have to apply.
8- Your budget
You budget always depends on the purpose of your visit. If you are on a vacation, you may need little more money for your events, shopping and meals. It is always good to check the prices of food items in a place you go. Likewise, you can check the transportation costs, shopping prices etc.
9- Communication devices
When you are in a foreign country, you always have to make sure all safety precautions are followed. This includes, always carrying a working mobile phone, your passport and identity cards with you. Self-defense tools may also necessary too.
10- Avoiding the " first time visit feelings"
It is good that you always try not to act like you are very new to the place. You should try to avoid asking people about the information as much as you can. Instead, you can always follow the boards, charts you see. You can always carry the travelers guide with you. Do not pay attention to the things that are not in your interest. Just relax yourself and feel like you know how to live the place.
